Story behind the name: The word mimi means “ear” in Japanese, and pod refers to a seed pod. We designed these pods hoping they would be able to become the seeds of rebirth within the eternal cycle of life and death.

The washi and recycled paper that we use in our papier-mâché products is all naturally derived. Trees are born from the earth, and paper is born from those trees. Our Ear Pod turns paper into an easily biodegradable form so it can return to the earth without being wasted. It bears no burden on any part of the ever-circulating ecosystem.

Story behind the name: The word hone (hoh-neh) means “bone” in Japanese. The name was also chosen for the English word “hone,” as in to polish or sharpen. We created this pod so that a life that has been polished will be able to shine forever, even after death.

Each Hone Pod is made by hand, so each one is unique.

Because papier-mâché products are made one by one by the hands of skilled craftspeople, they are one-of-a-kind creations with their own individuality, just like humans and animals. With their round form and a design that does not impair the unique feel of the washi paper, they will surely nourish your heart.
